Let’s face it, there are probably a fair few of us who are still feeling the after effects of the year that was 2020. As we continue on to navigate our way through 2021, it seems that there are glimmers of hope on the horizon for us to hold onto, signs of progress being made.
Although it may sometimes appear that we are powerless in overwhelming situations of great magnitude, we always have the option to come back to that which we can control. We can remind ourselves that even if we feel small and insignificant in the face of huge challenge, we can choose to make meaningful contributions to the community around us – no matter how small that may be. It’s always worth remembering that it’s the small acts that add up to create the ripples that make change happen.
We all have our part to play.

With this in mind I’d like to invite you to illuminate your own corner of the world because your shine is needed right now! If you’ve been thrown off course and need a little nudge to remember what your unique strengths are, take this as your permission slip to block out a slot for your personal development in the diary, make yourself a drink and use the following prompts to gain greater awareness of all the beautiful gifts you have to offer!
Enjoy the process!

- Acknowledge the strengths you already know you have! What 3 strengths come to mind straight away? What do you love to do?

2. Look beneath your success to uncover your strengths. Think about the times when you consider yourself to have been successful, what personal attributes got you through?

3. What have you learned from the tough times? What strengths did you learn to hide? What challenges have you overcome? What strengths helped you to overcome challenges?

4. What do you long to do and what do you admire in others? What we long to do can give us clues to help us uncover our talents. What we admire in others can provide us with information about our own strengths.

5. What do others value in you? What do your friends say about you? What do others ask you for help with?

It seems fitting to end this post with some wise words from Rumi – we all have our individuals strengths to offer the world. So go on, go spread a little light, go do it!
