One of the most frequently talked about lessons of the pandemic often seems to be the re-connection to nature that so many people have been delighted to experience. I say re-connection rather than discovery, as we’re all born as beings who have an innate ability to appreciate nature. However, this frequently gets blocked over time as we begin to inhabit more of our daylight hours in concrete buildings, seeing and feeling life through the lens of false light and central heating.

It seems that many have found that the little gems within their day have often been the sound of birdsong, the smell of freshly cut grass, the feel of the wind on their face; reminding them of their aliveness in darker moments when it may have felt that the world had stopped turning.

As we transition out of the final days of the dark winter period, have you begun to sense any changes yet? Maybe you’ve started to feel a little spring in your step as you notice that your morning walk is beginning to get lighter. Maybe you’ve sensed that the earth is waking back up as the birds start to get busier and louder with their chirping and bustling in the trees above.

How do you feel about this invitation to start to attend to your own green shoots? After all, we’re all part of the wheel of nature and go through the seasons of life, we too are entering Spring and get the opportunity to bloom, blossom and begin again; hopefully shedding some skins along the way.

What would you like to birth as we move from what may have felt like an extended long Winter, what would you like to start afresh, begin anew? Maybe you already know what you’d love to cultivate in this brand new season, or maybe these questions will help you to consider what areas in your life would benefit from a good old fashioned Spring clean and refresh.

Out with the old and in with the new!

  1. What areas of your life could do with a breath of fresh clean air?
  2. What cobwebs do you need to sweep away to unveil the beauty in your life?
  3. What needs a mental declutter, what is taking up space in your mind that you’re ready to let go of?
  4. What needs a physical declutter, where can you take practical action and get round to clearing that cupboard, wardrobe, shed etc?
  5. What is draining your energy, make a list of all that is and prepare to let go and start inviting in some revitalised energy!
